HoardingWoes: Assessing When to Intervene

When you are dealing with a family member that hoards, you may sooner or later be discussing a complaint with some governmental representative on your loved one’s front porch. I never had to do this for my Mom, but I did have to fend off the County at my Aunt’s hoarding home. It was motivational for me to accelerate some form of cleanup moves outside and inside the home.

To some it may seem like a normal response to fend off the authorities. Others might welcome the intervention because it would force the bad guy label onto the government.

This is a helpful site on assessing when the risk factors are high enough to justify intervention either by you, the family or the authorities.
