Grey Gardens: Recluses in Squalor

An interesting movie that does not touch upon hoarding, but mental illness, squalor and the family contagion of mental illness. Worth a watch if you find it listed (It was on a cable channel FLIX today).

Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale (1895-1977), known as “Big Edie”, and her daughter Edith Bouvier Beale (1917-2002), known as “Little Edie”, were the aunt and the first cousin, respectively, of former U.S. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The two women lived together at Grey Gardens for decades with limited funds in increasing squalor and isolation.” Wiki

My oh my, I just requested this DVD from my local library last week!!!! Waiting with baited breath till it comes in……

Grey Gardens has since been purchased and renovated by now-retired Washington Post Editor Ben Bradlee and his wife, Sally Quinn. I have seen pictures of the renovation and it is fabulous!!! A very brave couple to tackle a job of that magnitude..

Not unlike you, a very brave and forward looking soul. Hoping that you can take some time to rest and rejuvenate both your body and your spirit!!!
